Learn Local courses are flexible and can be tailored specifically to suit your needs. Class sizes are often small, with training delivered by highly experienced professionals in a relaxed environment.

Learn Local Courses offered by BGT Jobs & Training Ballarat

Introduction to Aged Care


This course is an entry-level course, designed to improve, and further develop a learners literacy and numeracy skills relevant to the Aged Care Industry.


After completing this course, learners might transition into entry-level employment in the aged care sector, such as cleaning or laundry work. Others might decide to pursue careers in different fields such as cleaning and hospitality or apply for volunteer roles.

Introduction to Building and Construction



The Building and construction Learn Local course is designed to support learners wishing to pursue a pathway into accredited building and construction programs such as Prepare to Work Safely in the Construction Industry (White Card) or Certificate II in Building and Construction.


Activities in this course support learners to gain foundation skills through practical and applied learning activities relevant to the Building and Construction Industry.

Introduction to Early Childhood Education and Care


The program assists adult learners to develop literacy and numeracy skills to increase their chances of employment or further study within the early childhood education sector.


Pathways to employment in the early childhood education sector will be explored and learners will be given the opportunity to explore vocational training at a certificate III level. Learners will also investigate avenues for finding employment opportunities in the Early Childhood Education sector in the future.

Gaining the Edge: Employability and Resilience



This course is designed to assist learners build their employability and resilience to help them gain future employment.


Employability and Placement: focusses on communication skills, work placement expectations, employability skills, applying for a position, responsibilities at work, interview skills and good phone etiquette.


Resilience: Learners will understand what resilience is, how to develop resilience as well as develop strategies to respond to stress and explore the concept of goal setting. The unit touches on boundaries and assertive communication.

Prepare to Drive



Prepare to Drive focuses on developing the essential skills and literacy to help pass the Victorian Learner Test. 


Successful completion of Prepare to Drive not only equips learners with the literacy and numeracy skills needed to pass the Victorian Learner Test but also lays the foundation for further education, training, or employment opportunities.
